Polish universities have a large scientific capital and are increasingly popular with students from other countries. “The internationalisation rate of higher education (share of foreigners among students) has been steadily increasing in recent years. It was 6.6 % in 2019, 6.8 % in 2020 and 7.1 % in 2021”, said Minister of Education and Science Przemysław Czarnek, commenting on the latest report ‘Foreigners at universities in Poland’. It was prepared by experts from the Information Processing Centre at the request of the Ministry of Education and Science.

The report shows that since 2012, the share of foreign students choosing non-public universities has increased at the highest rate. “The consequence of this trend is changes in the structure of students at non-public universities: in 2012, foreign students accounted for only 2.1 % of the total number of students, in 2015 it was already 8.1 %, and now it is almost 12 %”, says Dr Jarosław Protasiewicz, Director of the Information Processing Centre.

The most common choice among foreigners in the 2021/2022 academic year was management. In 2021, 17 % of foreign students in Poland studied on this faculty.
