Researcher at the University of Gdańsk receives Haiman Award

Dr Anna Mazurkiewicz, Prof. Associate from the Faculty of History at the University of Gdańsk, was awarded the Haiman Prize. The award was given during the 75th jubilee conference of the Polish-American Historical Society.

This is the most prestigious award granted by the Polish American Historical Association, an American scientific society that has existed since 1944. The Haiman award has been granted since 1966 for “an outstanding contribution to the development of research in the field of Polish-American studies”.

The laureate conducts research on the history of Central European political emigrants after World War II. She is the author of the monograph “Political refugees from Central and Eastern Europe in the American Cold War Policy 1948-1954” and a number of articles devoted to Polish political emigration in the United States. At the University of Gdansk, she teaches history of the US and world history after the Second World War and the history of migration.
