Prof. Mirosław Mączka from the Institute of Low Temperatures and Structural Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences has been awarded the Prize of the Prime Minister in the most prestigious category – achievement in scientific activity, including artistic creation or implementation activity.
He was awarded for his innovative research, which led to the discovery of a number of new functional materials and significantly advanced the knowledge of hybrid compounds. The study of hybrid organic-inorganic compounds is part of a very topical and important topic both because of the potential applications of these compounds and the extremely interesting and complex nature of their structural, optical, magnetic and electrical properties.
This year, the Prime Minister’s Prizes were awarded for the 30th time. 44 people and one research team were honoured with them.
