Prof. Jan Maciej Zaucha, head of the Department of Haematology and Transplantology at the Medical University of Gdansk, has won an award in the Principal Investigator category of the Medical Research Agency’s Medicine of Tomorrow competition. The Medicine of Tomorrow award recognises hard work over many years to improve the Polish healthcare system and patient advocacy.
“It is a very great honour for me as a clinician seeking effective therapy for Hodgkin’s lymphoma. It is worth noting that despite the usually good results of Hodgkin’s lymphoma treatment, some patients are over-treated, resulting in unnecessary toxicity, while other patients do not respond to treatment and require intensification”, said the awarded scientist.
Prof Zaucha is carrying out two ABM-funded projects at the Gdansk university for a total of almost PLN 37 million.
