Dr Agnieszka Krawczyk-Łebek from the Department of Food Chemistry and Biocatalysis at Wrocław University of Life Sciences wants to develop a method for obtaining a multifunctional preservative for the cosmetics industry – an alternative to, among others, artificial preservatives not accepted by consumers.

“The project aims to develop a method for obtaining a new cosmetic raw material acting as a multifunctional preservative as an alternative to, among others, unacceptable artificial preservatives and potentially allergenic active substances in cosmetics (e.g. antioxidant BHT)”, says the researcher.

For her project ‘Chlorine atom flavonoid glycosides as multifunctional natural preservatives in cosmetic formulations’, the researcher won almost PLN 1.8 million from the National Centre for Research and Development. The new glycosides are the subject of several patent applications, and the project provides an opportunity to implement these inventions into the economy.
