Researcher of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań joins the International Cartographic Association

Dr Eng. Łukasz Halik from the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań became the vice-chairman of the topographic map commission of the International Cartographic Association. The choice was made during the XXIX International Cartographic Conference in Tokyo.

One of the main tasks of the new vice-chairman will be to create a map portal, presenting synthetic information on the National Topographic Topography Agencies, and in the long run on topographic maps created in individual countries of the world.

Scientific interests of Dr Eng. Łukasz Halik include the use of enhanced technology and virtual reality in presenting spatial objects of the real world. Currently, he is conducting research on the possibilities of topographic data visualization in the immersive system of virtual reality.
