Dr Magdalena Krajcarz, Faculty of Historical Sciences of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń and the Center of Excellence “Interactions – Mind, Society, Environment” has won a prestigious European grant under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Individual Fellowships.
The researcher from Toruń will carry out the awarded IsoTroph project at the University of Tübingen (Germany, Baden-Württemberg) under the supervision of Prof. Hervé Bocherens. Her task is improving the geochemical method used in palaeontology, based on the analysis of isotopes stable in individual amino acids of bone collagen.
Dr Krajcarz is an archaeozoologist, she deals with palaeoecology and taphonomy of late Pleistocene and Holocene fossil fauna groups. In her research, she combines classical methods of analysis of mammalian remains and biomolecular methods, in particular the analysis of stable isotopes. She is a member of archaeological expeditions exploring cave sites in Poland, Russia and Kyrgyzstan.
