Researcher of the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznań becomes the first Polish laureate of the Tansley Medal

Dr Michał Bogdziewicz from the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznań (AMU) became the first Pole who was awarded the Tansley Medal. This is one of the most important awards for plant biologists.

The medal honoring Arthur George Tansley, an English botanist and pioneer in ecology science, has been awarded since 2009 by the New Phytologist Trust to distinguished early-career scientists. This year, for the first time, a Polish plant researcher was awarded.

Dr Michał Bogdziewicz from UAM, deals with the ecology of forests, in particular with the mechanisms responsible for the regeneration of trees. He has received six grants from the National Science Center. He is the author of several dozen publications showing the complexity of processes related to the occurrence of seed years. He was the laureate of the Science Award of the City of Poznań, the Scholarship of the Minister of Science and Higher Education for outstanding scientists and the START Scholarship of the Foundation for Polish Science.
