Researcher of the University of Gdańsk becomes a laureate of the PAGES award for young scientists

Dr Alicja Bonk, scientist of the Faculty of Oceanography and Geography of the University of Gdańsk has won the PAGES award for young researchers. This is the first competition of awards established by an international organization to coordinate and promote research into environmental changes in the past.

In the justification for the nomination for Dr Alicja Bonk the jury emphasized the laureate’s achievements in palaeolimnology research, her interdisciplinary research on environmental changes in Europe, and the ability to establish international scientific contacts. Her contribution to building the PAGES Early-Career Network and the activities of this group were also appreciated.

PAGES (Past Global Changes) is an international organization of over 5,000 scientists from 125 countries. From this year, it decided to honor young researchers for their commitment. The award will be officially presented during the PAGES ‘6th Open Science Meeting in Agadir (Morocco) in May 2022.
