Dr Karolina Pierzynowska from the Department of Molecular Biology, Faculty of Biology, University of Gdańsk joined the finalists competing for the international Future Science Future Star Award.
The jury of experienced scientists from all over the world appreciated the research of Dr Pierzynowska and the dynamic development of her professional career. The scientist from Gdańsk joined the finalists from Italy, Pakistan and Cameroon.
-I am conducting research on the search for pathomechanisms and new therapeutic strategies for genetic and neurodegenerative diseases. The topic of my doctoral thesis was the development of a therapy for Alzheimer’s and Huntington’s disease using genistein, a naturally occurring isoflavone – says Dr Pierzynowska.
The competition is organized by the publishing house “Future Science” and the journal “BioTechniques”. It aims to honor scientists working in the life sciences whose work can significantly affect human health.
