Researcher of the University of Wrocław awarded for his contribution to Polish-German relations

Prof. Krzysztof Ruchniewicz, director of the Willy Brandt Center for German and European Studies  of the University of Wrocław received a medal from the Prime Minister of Saxony commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Peaceful Revolution and the Unification of Germany. 

This was the initiative of the Saxon head of government, Michael Kretschmer, who approached the counties of this German state and the authorities of Leipzig, Dresden and Chemnitz with a request to name people deserving of honor. As a result, the committee compiled a list of 220 distinguished persons who contributed significantly to the process of the fusion of East and West Germany and the reconstruction of the Free State of Saxony.

Prof. Ruchniewicz was distinguished for special merits for Polish-German relations and civic engagement. The scientist has been cooperating with the universities of Dresden and Leipzig for many years. He sat on the scientific council of the Hannah-Adrendt-Institut in Dresden, participated in numerous scientific and educational projects with partners from Saxony.
