University of Wrocław to hold a lecture about the avant-garde in films for children

26.03.2021

The Center for Literature Research for Children and Youth of the University of Wrocław is inviting participants on April 21 to the second lecture in the series “International Voices in Children’s Literature Studies”. The guest of the university will be Prof. Bettina Kümmerling-Meibauer, the German Eberhard Charles University in Tübingen.

German scientist will give a lecture on “Children’s Films and the Avant-garde” devoted to the issue of “avant-garde film”. It may seem unlikely that children’s films have anything to do with avant-garde films, but avant-garde styles and experiments have appeared in children’s films for a very long time.

Prof. Kümmerling-Meibauer works in the field of international children’s literature, picture-book history, its theory and children’s film. She is the author of four monographs and an editor of over twenty collections.
