Researchers at Adam Mickiewicz University checking how we are doing during a pandemic

05.05.2020

The team led by Prof. Jacek W. Paluchowski from the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan implements the project “How are we doing during the COVID-19 pandemic”. The aim of the research is to identify ways of dealing with stress in an extreme situation and to respond to the effects of various types of prohibitions and orders during a pandemic.

The first part of the research was carried out on a sample of 620 people, 18 days after the announcement of the epidemic and introduction of restrictions. Based on the answers, the researchers identified four groups of people using different strategies for dealing with pandemic stress.

The first group consists of task-oriented, non-calculating and friendly persons, the second group is reconciled, reinterpreting and expressive, and the third is responsible, independent and task-oriented. Research was conducted on the Internet. Scientists asked respondents questions about the level of perceived tension, anxiety and, most importantly, how they deal with stress.
