The National Centre for Science (NCN) has decided on the 5th PRELUDIUM BIS competition for doctoral scholarships, research projects and foreign internships implemented by doctoral students at doctoral schools. The group of 43 winners from all over Poland included researchers from three faculties of the Jagiellonian University (UJ) in Krakow: Medicine, Chemistry and Geography and Geology.
In the 5th PRELUDIUM BIS competition, NCN received 229 applications for a total amount of over PLN 134 million. Forty-three projects with a total value of nearly PLN 26 million were qualified for funding with the success rate in the competition 18.78 %.
Dr Michał Ząbczyk from the Faculty of Medicine, will implement a project on chronic respiratory failure (CRF). Kamilla Małek’s project from the Faculty of Chemistry concerns surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) and photoinduced enhanced Raman spectroscopy (PIERS). Determining the role of the internal greenhouse effect beneath the ice surface in the ablation process of glacial ice will be dealt with by the team of Dr Michał Pętlicki from the Faculty of Geography and Geology.
