Researchers from the Lodz University of Technology, as part of a project conducted by FermiLAB, the main laboratory of elementary particle physics in the USA, take part in research related to neutrinos, which are part of the search for answers to questions about the origin of the universe.
The Department of Microelectronics and Information Technology of the Lodz University of Technology was invited to cooperate with the National Laboratory of Elementary Particles Enrico Fermi (FermiLAB), which is managed by the US Department of Energy from 2020. Scientists from Lodz were involved in the project of designing the most modern particle accelerator in the world, driving a neutrino beam with a power exceeding one megawatt.
Currently, a bilateral agreement has been signed allowing scientists from the Lodz University of Technology to develop a specification and prototypes of systems securing the correct operation of the RFPI machine – Radio Frequency Protection Interlock.
