Researchers from the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University win the main prize in the “Geology 2018” competition

Employees of the Institute of Physics of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin (UMCS): Dr Andrzej Pelc, Prof. of UMCS, Dr Tomasz Pieńkos, Dr Andrzej Trembaczowski and Dr Artur Wójtowicz received the main prize of the Minister of the Environment in the “Geology 2018” competition.

The aim of the competition is to promote innovative services and solutions, to promote activities aimed at sustainable management of environmental resources and to support scientific development and popularization of geological knowledge.

The jury of the competition awarded projects for the development and promotion of Polish geology, scientific and technical solutions and fundamental discoveries in this field. The award was given to UMCS scientists in the “Industry, Innovation” category for the work aimed at improving the mass spectrometric techniques of studying the isotopic composition of elements in the natural environment and geological formations.
