Researchers from the Faculty of Physics and the New Technologies Center at the University of Warsaw Dr Joanna Kowalska, Prof. Edward Darżynkiewicz and Prof. Jacek Jemielity were nominated for the European Inventor Award.
The European Inventor Award is organized by the European Patent Office. It is attended by inventors contributing to economic or social development from around the world.
Researchers from the University of Warsaw have been studying the interactions of proteins and RNA nucleic acid fragments in cellular processes for over 10 years, as well as the chemical synthesis of analogous terminals of mRNA molecules. Through their research, they solved the issues of mRNA instability and increased its productivity. Their discovery provides the development of effective genetic vaccines that in the near future will fight malignancies.
The award ceremony will take place on June 7 in Paris.
