Researchers of the Koszalin University of Technology to design an optimal wooden house

01.04.2021

Scientists of the Koszalin University of Technology are creating an optimal building partition for using in timber frame constructions. Their research will allow more houses of this structure to be built in Pomerania Region.

The first aim of the project is to optimize the multilayer structure of the outer wall of the timber building. Then, a smart system is meeting the requirements of Industry 4.0. It will be called digital twin of a real building.

The system will allow to monitor the conditions inside the walls (heat and moisture exchange) and will enable ongoing control of the condition of the external walls of the building. It will also inform about the current energy balance of the building related to the heat exchange between the interior, walls and surroundings. The project is co-financed under the Regional Operational Program of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. Its total cost is almost PLN 1.6 million.
