Researchers of the University of Life Sciences in Wrocław receive almost 100,000 PLN under the MINIATURA competition

09.11.2020

Scientists of the University of Life Sciences in Wrocław have obtained grant to carry out their research. The grants under the MINIATURA program will allow Dr Paweł Wiercik of the Institute of Environmental Engineering and Prof. Tomasz Suchocki of the Biostatistics Laboratory of the Department of Genetics to complete their projects.

Dr Wiercik for almost 41 thousand PLN will test the impact of humic substances contained in water and sewage on the poisoning of anionites. At the research station of the Wrocław Sewage Treatment Plant in Janówek, he will check how much of humic substances can cause the resins used to purify water and sewage to lose their properties.

Prof. Suchocki for 44 thousand PLN will test the quality of polymorphisms obtained from next-generation sequencing using neural networks. The methodology for validating single polymorphism markers for next-generation sequencing data would be widely used in the future by researchers dealing with GWAS-type association analyzes.
