Scientists of the University of Silesia in Katowice (UŚ) have developed a process for purifying graphene oxide, proposing the use of continuous extraction in the Soxhlet apparatus with the use of hydrochloric or hydrobromic acid. The solution has been already patented.
Graphene oxide is an example of a chemical compound that is of great interest to scientists due to its properties and possible applications – especially in electronic devices, energy storage and the synthesis of nanocomposite and polymer materials. Therefore, the scientists are developing better, cheaper, safer and more efficient methods of synthesizing graphene oxide.
The authors of the invention are: Dr Karina Kocot; Dr Barbara Feist, Prof. Rafał Sitko; Dr Eng. Jacek Nycz, Dr Marcin Szala (currently representing the Lodz University of Technology); Jakub Wantulok and Krzysztof Byrdy.
