Two medals were won by research teams of the Faculty of Exact and Technical Sciences of the University of Silesia (UŚ) during the Warsaw International Exhibition of Inventions IWIS.
The gold medal was awarded to Dr Andrzej Dzienia, Dr Eng. Paulina Maksym, Dr Kamil Kamiński, Prof. Marian Paluch, Dr Magdalena Tarnacka. They were awarded for the method of obtaining poly (1-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone). The solution is the result of cooperation between the Institute of Physics and the Institute of Chemistry of the University of Silesia.
The silver medal was won by Aneta Kurpanik, Bogumiła Gołek, Agata Grabowska, Justyna Łucka, Witold Ignasiak, Prof. Eng. Stanisław Krompiec, Beata Marcol-Szumilas, Dr Eng. Grażyna Szafraniec-Gorol, Dr Marek Matussek. They were awarded for a series of inventions concerning a convenient and efficient method of synthesizing perylene and coronene derivatives by the Diels-Alder cycloaddition reaction of aryins into the cavity of perylene and its derivatives.
