Researchers of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology and the University of Oslo to obtain raw materials from asteroids

04.11.2020

Researchers of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology and the University of Oslo are trying to answer how to obtain raw materials from asteroids in space. Their article outlining the results of the analyzes will appear this year in the journal Planetary and Space Science published by Elsevier.

Asteroids are huge deposits of raw materials such as iron, copper, nickel and cobalt. Dr Eng. Katarzyna Łuszczek of the Wrocław University of Technology and Dr Agata Krzesińska of the University of Oslo are indicating where it will be best to extract copper from, to make it economical and environmentally friendly.

The results of the research of both researchers are discussed in their latest newsletter Lunar and Planetary Institute (LPI) – a research organization from Houston, supported by NASA and dedicated to the study of the solar system. Once a week, LPI sends information on two ground-breaking space-related research to its subscribers a newsletter.
