Researchers of three Polish universities developing a Smart Hydrogel accelerating tissue regeneration

24.02.2021

PhD students of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology and the University of Warsaw, as well as a dentist and scientist of the Medical University of Poznań, intend to develop a solution that will accelerate the regeneration of tissues in the oral cavity of people after radiotherapy.

Radiotherapy, which destroys cancer cells, can also cause inflammation, ulceration, tissue defects and make more difficult healing. The consequence is more pain and often also difficulties with swallowing, which in extreme cases may result in malnutrition of the patient. The solution can be a Smart Hydrogel with a substance that accelerates tissue regeneration.

Dr Marta Dyszkiewicz-Konwińska, lecturer and scientist of the Department of Biomaterials and Experimental Dentistry of the Laboratory of Dental Radiology of the Medical University in Poznań and PhD students – Magdalena Łabowska, Wrocław University of Science and Technology and Ewa Borowska from the University of Warsaw.
