Dr Maciej Kowalczyk from the Ludwig and Maximilian University of Munich has won a grant of over one million PLN from the National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA). Thanks to the grant from the Polish Returns competition, the scientist will begin research at the Department of Field Theory, Electronic Systems and Optoelectronics at Wrocław University of Science and Technology.
Dr Kowalczyk will work on the project ‘Ultrastable single-cycle mid-infrared laser sources’. The researcher is returning to Wrocław University, where he presented his PhD thesis in 2019.
For years, the NAWA Polish Returns competition has enabled outstanding Polish scientists to return to Poland and work at Polish universities and research institutes. In this year’s round, nine male and female researchers from five countries around the world will return to Poland: the USA, the UK, Switzerland, Israel, and Germany.
