The Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences (PAU) has selected the winner of the Erazm and Anna Jerzmanowski Prize. This year it was awarded to Rev. Prof. Michał Heller – a philosopher, world-renowned scholar, research animator and prominent populariser of science.

The PAU Council awarded the prize to Rev. Prof. Michał Heller for his momentous research on the philosophy of science, in particular on the extremely important problem of the mathematical nature of the world, discovered by Pythagoras and confirmed by contemporary science.

Rev. Prof. Michal Heller is the recipient of the prestigious Templeton Prize, awarded to researchers conducting interdisciplinary research combining purely cognitive and spiritual aspects. He donated the entire sum of the prize of USD 1.6 million to the Copernicus Centre for Interdisciplinary Research, which is today a thriving centre conducting international research, educational and popularisation activities.

It was established in 2008 as a joint unit of the Jagiellonian University and the Pontifical University of John Paul II.
