The Prof. Włodzimierz Kotkowski Gallery of the Institute of Fine Arts at the University of Rzeszów (UR) hosted the official opening of the exhibition “Polish heroes, innovators, modernisers, inventors and their contribution to the development of society”.

The exhibition consists of fifty boards devoted to figures selected according to a preconceived concept – important for various aspects of Polish modernisation.

This is another interdisciplinary project carried out by the College of Humanities at the University of Rzeszów as part of programmes popularising science.

“Our intention was, to show people who changed reality with their inventions, their economic activity, their social thoughts and ideas. Of course, the selection was subjective, we only had room for 50 charts, but I wanted, as the author of the content concept, to show also those who acted during the partitions around the world, also those who acted during the period of independent Poland. Poles abroad in the inter-war period, after the war or in the period of the Polish People’s Republic built the reality after the war. The exhibition also features contemporary heroes”, said Prof. Paweł Grata, author of the substantive concept for the project.
