“SafeHouse” of a student of Wrocław University of Science and Technology awarded in an international competition

The architectural concept of a center for homeless youth in the USA, prepared by a student of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology, won an award in an international competition organized by the UNI platform, bringing together over 150,000 world architects and designers.

The jurors searched for the best projects of hostels for homeless youth that would not only provide them with shelter, but also with the conditions to deal with trauma and the possibility of part-time on-campus work.

Katarzyna Lech’s project has both private zones (single rooms), as well as semi-public zones (hygienic and sanitary rooms, kitchenettes), public areas (thematic spaces, study rooms, a public dining room and recreational zones as internal courtyard, green utility terraces and a year-round garden and public specialized premises dedicated to health and administration needs.
