The PW-Sat2 space satellite designed by students of Warsaw University of Technology is ready for the final tests before transferring it to space flight.
The conceptual work on the PW-Sat2 project began in 2013, and several months later the first prototypes of the deorbiting sail and the designs of several basic subsystems were created. The satellite was created by the Student Astronaut Circle, operating at the Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering of the Warsaw University of Technology. In recent months, it underwent tests of electronic components and integration of the whole in the CEZAMAT laboratories of the Warsaw University of Technology and the Space Research Center of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
The main mission of the satellite will be to test the deorbiting sail. In May 2018 it will be delivered to the company, which put the device for the Falcon 9 rocket. The launch of the rocket is planned for the second half of 2018.
