On 19 December 2022, the Warsaw School of Economics (SGH) hosted a celebration of the 100th anniversary of Stanisław Wojciechowski, a professor affiliated with the SGH from 1919 to 1939, assuming the office of President of the Republic of Poland. The celebrations were attended by President Andrzej Duda and Deputy Speaker of the Sejm Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, a great-granddaughter of Stanisław Wojciechowski.

Stanisław Wojciechowski was, in fact, the first President of the Republic to actually hold office while struggling with the then extremely difficult turn of rebuilding Poland. He decided to take up the office of the President of the Republic of Poland, to submit to this election in extremely difficult circumstances, immediately after the assassination of the first President of the reborn Republic of Poland, Gabriel Narutowicz”, recalled President Andrzej Duda.

“For me, this is an extremely moving moment. And I would like to thank the entire academic community of the Warsaw School of Economics very much for restoring the memory and history of my great-grandfather,” remarked Deputy Speaker of the Sejm Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska.
