Enrolment for the third ‘Science is People’ educational programme is being launched. The project of the Medical University of Gdańsk is addressed to secondary school pupils and students who plan to study medicine, pharmacy and biotechnology.
Participants will see for themselves how dynamically medicine has developed over the past few decades. In the Gdańsk Medical University Museum, they will see unique exhibits, including an X-ray machine from 1940, a cystoscope from the mid-20th century and a glass syringe. They will learn about the history of surgical gloves and the stethoscope.
Pupils will also learn what a day in the life of a surgeon is like, as well as the latest tools and developments in this branch of medicine. Cardiologists and cardiothoracic surgeons will talk about the process of organising clinical trials to optimise patient treatment, and what we can learn from microvascular research.
