The Warsaw School of Economics (SGH) is organising a scientific conference on 14 April to mark the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Accession of the Republic of Poland to the European Union.

“The conference aims to analyse the legal and economic effects of the treaty – resulting, inter alia, from Poland’s participation in the single European market – and to recall its genesis through the testimony of representatives of the authorities of the time. It will consist of two panels preceded by a key historical part, which will feature speeches by personalities involved in the accession negotiations, including – the Prime Minister of the then Polish government Leszek Miller and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Włodzimierz Cimoszewicz”, informs the Rector of the Warsaw School of Economics, Dr Piotr Wachowiak, Professor at the Warsaw School of Economics.

The expert panel, complementing the memorial part, will be attended by researchers from the most important scientific centres in the country dealing with the problems of European integration. The student panel will be composed of representatives of the younger generation, i.e. students and doctoral students of the Warsaw School of Economics.
