Scientist and PhD student of the Gdańsk University of Technology receive scholarships of the Minister of Science and Higher Education

02.07.2020

Dr Eng. Michał Winiarski and PhD student Marta Roman from the Department of Solid State Physics at the Faculty of Technical Physics and Applied Mathematics of the Gdańsk University of Technology were among the scholarship holders of the Minister of Science and Higher Education. They both look for new materials.

Scientific work of Dr Eng. Michał Winiarski focuses on obtaining and studying the physical properties of new materials showing strong correlations between electrons, such as superconductors and magnetic materials. His research is carried out in cooperation with Johns Hopkins University, Louisiana State University, Princeton University, Clemson University (USA) and the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow.

Eng. Marta Roman investigates charge density waves (CDW) and their interaction with magnetism in the family of ternary RNiC2 carbides (R – rare earth metal).
