Scientist from the University of Gdańsk wins equipment grant from the Polish Science Foundation

Dr Michał R. Szymański, Prof. of University of Gdańsk (UG) is a laureate of the equipment grant of the Polish Science Foundation. He received financing in the amount of over 480 thousand PLN as part of an internal competition for winners implementing the FIRST Team grant.

The funding will enable the purchase of a specialized biomolecular laser scanner (Amersham Typhoon RGB Biomolecular Imager) equipped with fluorescence, radioactivity, densitometry and chemiluminescence detection modes.

Dr Michał R. Szymański is the head of the Department of Structural Biology at the inter-university faculty of biotechnology of the University of Gdańsk and the Medical University of Gdańsk. His team implements projects on DNA replication and repair in humans, bacteria and viruses financed by the Foundation for Polish Science, the National Science Center, the European Molecular BIology Organization and the European Research Council.
