02.04.2020

Professor Stefan Dziembowski from the Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science and Mechanics of the University of Warsaw (UW) received the prestigious EUR 2.4 million ERC Advanced Grant for the implementation of the project entitled “Smart-Contract Protocols: Theory for Applications”.

The subject of research under the project will include “cryptographic protocols alias algorithms that interact with smart contracts- “IT equivalents” of legal contracts. This concept appeared at the end of the last century, and has recently gained popularity, mainly due to the development of the so-called blockchain technology that provides tools for recording and fulfilling these contracts.

The implementation of the project will contribute to the creation of the first academic blockchain development center and smart contract technology at the Warsaw university.
