Dr Tomasz Ratajczak, Professor at the University of Zielona Góra from the Institute of Polish Philology, has received a grant from the Ministry of Education and Science as part of the Excellent Science programme. The grant will enable the publication of the monograph Polish prayer books of various religions of the 19th century. R-Z bibliography and supplements’.
This is the third (final) part of a series containing over 7,000 bibliographic descriptions of 19th-century prayer books that were published in the Polish lands and abroad, and then distributed among Poles or people speaking Polish.
The monograph should improve the use of prayer books in research into religious language, the national identity of Poles and the history and role of the Catholic Church or other denominations in the 19th century. It may also be a useful tool in attempting to use prayer books to reconstruct the everyday life of Poles and other population groups in the 19th century”.
