Prof. Jacek Radwan, scientist of the Faculty of Biology of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań was awarded by the Foundation for Polish Science Prize. He received so called “Polish Nobel Prize” in the field of life and earth sciences.
The laureate is an evolutionary biologist. He deals with sexual selection and conflict, co-evolution of the host – parasite and the evolution of the major histocompatibility system. His research awarded with the “Polish Nobel Prize” refers to the immune system, namely explaining why it is not always able to respond to an attack by pathogenic organisms.
The Prize of the Foundation for Polish Science is awarded for special achievements and scientific discoveries that shift the boundaries of cognition and open new cognitive perspectives, make an outstanding contribution to the civilization and cultural progress of Poland as a significant place in taking up the most ambitious challenges of the modern world.
