Prof. Piotr Czauderna, head of the Department and Clinic of Surgery and Urology for Children and Youth at the Medical University of Gdańsk became the chairman of the Healthcare Council operating within the National Development Council. The Council was appointed by President Andrzej Duda.
The main tasks of the newly created body include: analyzing the current situation in the field of health protection, creating a forum for debate, as well as promoting pro-health attitudes. In addition, the Council will be responsible for the preparation of opinions and expert opinions as well as the development of assumptions and draft legislative initiatives.
As announced by prof. Czauderna, the Council will focus on the mental health of children, adolescents and seniors during the pandemic. In the longer term, it will develop health protection strategies for people who have not received adequate medical care due to the epidemic.
