The Chapter of the Portraits of Polish Medicine 2022 award recognised Prof Bartosz Karaszewski, head of the Department of Neurology at the Medical University of Gdańsk, as an outstanding representative of the medical community, particularly meritorious in the sphere of saving patients’ health and lives, awarding him the highest laurel in the Health Market Doctor category. 

Prof Karaszewski was recognised for developing a pioneering therapeutic method of treating stroke in patients taking oral anticoagulants. Thanks to the innovative method developed by the research team led by Prof Karaszewski, the first patient in the world treated according to the regimen achieved resolution of all symptoms of acute ischaemic stroke.

The editors of the Health Market website and magazine awarded the Portraits of Polish Medicine for the sixteenth time in three categories: Health Market Manager, Health Market Physician and Health Market Event.
