The International Centre for Cancer Vaccine Research at the University of Gdansk will carry out the project “Enhancing Cancer Vaccine Science for New Therapy Pathways” (CANVAS) This is the first project funded by Horizon Europe in which the University of Gdansk acts as coordinator.

The main objective of CANVAS is to create new tools and increase scientific capacity for non-small cell lung cancer therapy research. The University of Tor Vergata in Rome, the Commission on Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy in France and the Polish biotechnology start-up Real Research Ltd are also participating in the initiative. The researchers have received €1.5 million for the research.

The project will last for three years, with scheduled visits between partners and eight scientific workshops. This initiative is not only an opportunity to conduct new research, but also a chance to establish new contacts with foreign centres.
