Scientist of the Nicolaus Copernicus University comes second in the Coin Constellation – 2020 competition

The coin “Creation of the World”, by Dr Sebastian Mikołajczak, Faculty of Fine Arts of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, won the 2nd prize in the “Unique concept” category in the international competition “Coin Constellation – 2020”.

The awarded masterpiece is a silver collector’s coin with a face value of 5 New Zealand dollars, minted by the Mint of Poland. The coin is shaped like two intersecting circles. By rotating it along one of the axes, viewers can admire the artistic interpretation of the individual days of the biblical creation of the world.

26 central banks and mints from 17 countries participated in the 14th “Coin Constellation” competition, which was held as part of the international COINS-2020 conference in Moscow. Over 200 coins assessed in nine categories were submitted to the competition. The jury included experts of museums, auction houses, numismatic associations and authors of specialist publications on coins.
