Dr Oskar Rojewski from the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Silesia in Katowice became a finalist of the 21st Polityka’s Science Award in the category of humanities.
In his research, the scientist deals with the iconography of power in the 15th and 16th centuries, the issues of the position of artists at European courts, ephemeral decorations during court ceremonies and the migrations of Flemish and Dutch painters. He was a laureate of the Start scholarship of the Foundation for Polish Science, as well as the “Freedom of research” competition under the Research Excellence Initiative program.
The Science Awards of the Polityka weekly is a scholarship program addressed to scientists under 35 years of age. The main goal is to promote the scientific achievements of young scientists in Poland. Laureates are selected in two stages: first by the professors ‘chapter, and then by the citizens’ chapter.
