The book “Illegally Obtained Evidence in a Criminal Trial. In search of an optimal solution” by Dr Wojciech Jasiński, Department of Criminal Procedure of the Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics of the University of Wrocław received the title of “Legal book most useful in the practice of justice in 2019” in the 12th competition organized by the Wolters Kluwer Polska and the journal “Przegląd Sądowy”.
The author arranged the terminological and historical issues in this field. Dr Jasiński indicated the main problems related to the status of defective evidence in criminal proceedings and presented reasons for the elimination of illegally obtained evidence from the criminal trial. He also analyzed normative regulations in force in Poland concerning this problem, and presented how it is practiced in other countries.
The awarded book is the first scientific monograph on the subject of illegally obtained evidence in a criminal trial.
