Dr Karol Klimczak from the Wrocław University of Economics won a grant in the Opus 18 competition organized by the National Science Center. The scientist will implement the project ‘Evolution of the language of reporting on listed companies: text analysis using computer methods’.
The aim of the project is to explain how textual information evolves, what influences the changes in it, and what is its importance for financial markets. The implementation of the project will require a combination of finance theory with linguistics and the use of computer-aided methods of automatic text processing.
Project creators want to apply new research methods and a new way of collecting data. They want to see what patterns appear in textual information, check how companies’ motivations affect the changes, and also get specific evidence of the importance of financial texts for the functioning of markets.
