Scientists from the Gdańsk University of Technology will help in the combat against the spread of coronavirus. A special equipment was installed at the University Clinical Center (UCK) in Gdańsk to remotely measure the body temperature of patients entering the building.
A thermographic camera and a computer were installed at the main entrance to the UCK Invasive Medicine building. Thanks to the dedicated application, the screen displays the image from the camera in the form of the so-called thermograms, on which the body temperature value of a person entering the building is color-coded and assigned to the appropriate value.
The measurement is performed in real time and from a distance of several meters and works for several people at the same time – while non-contact thermometers available on the market can operate only at a distance of a dozen to several dozen centimeters to a single patient. This will allow for an instant detection of people with elevated temperature and separating healthy people from potentially infected ones.
