University of Silesia make inventions improving the quality of the coating of dental implants

18.03.2020

Researchers from the University of Silesia in Katowice have developed two solutions to improve the quality of dental implant coatings. Inventions have been patented.

The manufacturer of dental implants asked Silesian scientists to develop special coatings that would make the product more resistant to scratches during application. During screwing the implant the mechanical damage can happen to the coating.

Researchers have developed a special deposition method for calcium phosphate coating for short- and long-term implants. The selected chemical compound neutralizes acids present in the mouth, supports the development of bone tissue, which is crucial for the rapid regeneration of the patient’s body and contributes to the destruction of bacteria responsible for plaque formation.
