Scientists from the Białystok University of Technology, together with the Hospital of the Ministry of Interior and Administration in Białystok, are implementing the PROTECT-MED project. Its aim is to develop innovative solutions introducing automation and modern robotics to medicine.
The project’s three modules include advanced work on automatic patient registration (MedTAB module), efficient hospital disinfection with UV rays (RobUV module) and robotic assistants allowing for safe, remote contact and patient care (BOBOT 2.0 module).
In the BOBOT 2.0 module, tests of the mobile platforms have already been carried out in a hospital environment. Positive results were obtained in terms of control, range, mobility and environmental mapping. The obtained results will allow moving to the next stage of the module implementation, including the execution of casings, the development of user interfaces, the implementation of simple diagnostics (measurements of the pulse and body temperature of patients) and the implementation of multimedia communication.
The PROTECT MED project is financed by the National Center for Research and Development.
