Two scientists from the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Gdańsk have won the Opus 21 competition organized by the National Science Center. They will receive a total of over one million PLN for their research.
Dr Jacek Wiewiórowski, the university, head of the Department of Roman Law at the Department of Civil Law will implement the project “Legal significance of insignia in Notitia Dignitatum”. This source lists the higher East and West Roman imperial offices from around AD 400 and is one of the primary sources of knowledge about the Roman administration and organization of the Roman army in late antiquity.
The head of the second project “New physicochemical methods of revealing fingerprint traces as a forensic tool to increase the effectiveness of crime detection in a criminal trial” is Dr hab. Krzysztof Woźniewski, head of the Department of Criminalistics and Evidence Law at the Department of Criminal Trial Law and Forensics.
