Scientists from the University of Life Sciences in Wrocław to receive Preludium Bis 2 grants

Two scientists from the University of Life Sciences in Wrocław, the heads of two Leading Research Teams – Prof. Agnieszka Noszczyk-Nowak and Prof. Andrzej Białowiec received over a million PLN under the Preludium Bis 2 program of the National Science Center. 

Prof. Agnieszka Noszczyk-Nowak, head of the Leading Research Team – Animal Diseases – Translational Research received over 530 thousand PLN for the study of histological and structural changes in the tendon cords of the mitral valve in dogs.

According to epidemiological data, heart disease affects also companion animals, especially dogs. Nearly 75 percent of all cardiovascular diseases in dogs are degenerative valvular diseases.

Prof. Andrzej Białowiec, head of the Leading Research Team – Biomass and Waste Valorization received over 540,000. PLN. His team will research harmful substances generated during torrefaction (roasting) of biomass and municipal waste.
