The team led by Prof. Mariusz Zdrojek from the Faculty of Physics of the Warsaw University of Technology (PW) is working on creating a material that will suppress harmful microwave radiation.

Prof. Mariusz Zdrojek explained, that the project deals with the phenomenon known as electrosmog.

“The devices and electronic systems that surround us emit various types of electromagnetic radiation. Some are useful, e.g. in cell phones. But there is also unwanted radiation, often called junk radiation” says Prof. Zdrojek and adds that the final product of the WUT scientists will be a fully developed material technology that can then be used to produce specific applications.

Currently, together with industrial partners, we are testing simple applications to verify the technology’s readiness for market introduction: covers for electronic devices and cables, and coatings for electrical contactors.
