Scientists from the Warsaw University of Technology working on recycled asphalt

06.10.2021

Scientists from the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Warsaw University of Technology (PW), as part of a project conducted with LOTOS Asfalt, are developing an asphalt binder technology that will allow the reuse of materials from road repairs.

Scientists from the Warsaw University of Technology are conducting research to select new special additives for a new type of asphalt binder. It will allow to improve the parameters of the recycled binder and obtain the required quality of asphalt mixtures produced with an increased amount of material obtained from renovated asphalt pavements.

The authors of the project assume that as much as 30% of the asphalt from the demolition and renovation of roads can be used for new pavement layers.

Completion of the research and development project “Bitumen for recycling” is scheduled for 2023.
